Make me like You

Welp… This was meant to be posted on July 25, 2014.
It is now the 18th of December.

It is what it is, people.
And in hindsight, this is good.
because this is precisely what my ears needed to hear
and my heart needed to be reminded of today.
funny how life works, isn’t it?
it may have been “yesterday’s” prayer…
it may be today’s prayer…
and one thing is for certain…
“Make me like you, lord”

will be my prayer tomorrow, too.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Matthew 7:13,14
i thought i would share this… it’s from my personal journal, proof that I’m not calling anyone out, but more so trying to examine my own life. this was my thought: “many” find the broad road, it’s easy to find… it’s easy to pass through. I don’t want to be like the many that go astray a little at a time… i don’t want to be like the “many” that get it wrong and miss the point. i want to be part of the few who are being made more and more in the likeness of god’s image. i’m examining myself. examine yourself…
THe gate is a lot more narrow than we think.
My Journal | 6.26.14

Many seek the wrong title and the wrong glory.

Many seek the status or the reputation, over the lifestyle and the role.

Many seek praise from anyone, rather than from THE One from whom all blessings flow.

Many desire to make their name known, perhaps more than they desire to make His name known.

Many will act on momentary feelings and emotions,
rather than committing to a lifetime of discipline and sanctification.

Many say… rather than do.

Many KNOW the Truth… but don’t walk in it.

Many believe in The Lord, but don’t have faith in what He is able to do.

Many love some people, but not all people like God has commanded.

Many need to be affirmed by man instead of  being the man affirming Jesus to the world.

Many try to satisfy the “lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life”,
but fail to realize they will never truly be satisfied until they thirst after God’s Word.

Many sense the cross shaped hole in their heart,
but never fill it with the cross-shaped plug that is Jesus.

Many will write an eloquently crafted passage of thoughts and ideas, much like this one,
and post it on every social media outlet possible,
but fail to meditate on God-breathed Scripture of TRUTH and post it on the tablet of their heart.

NARROW is the gate and FEW are those who find it

Lord, don’t make me like many…

make me like You.
